Chiesi and Sustainability

Sustainability has been woven into our company mission for more than 15 years. We operate against a shared value mission; making decisions based on what is best for our business, patients, people and planet. The climate crisis is a health crisis, and businesses have a significant role to play in addressing this global challenge.

At Chiesi, sustainability is at the heart of our commitment to act as a force for good. It is reflected in our way of doing business, in the way we structure our organisation, and in the close relationship we have with our patients – but also in the way we define and measure our impact towards local communities, people and the planet.

We create shared value

Our approach to sustainability is guided by the concept of shared value: making decisions based on what is best for our business, patients, people and planet.

We have been a certified B Corp since 2019, joining a community of global businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.

We take climate action

The planet is facing a climate emergency that will affect both our generation and future ones.

Chiesi is committed to reaching Net Zero GHG emissions by 2035, and to reduce the environmental impact of our business on the climate.

Our sustainability journey

Our commitment to sustainability starts by taking action today and by thinking how we can improve tomorrow.

Our annual sustainability report is an opportunity to reflect on the shared value we deliver every year, as well as to transparently discuss the challenges and opportunities lying ahead in our sustainability journey

A community that thrives together

Chiesi operates against a shared value mission; making decisions based on what is best for our business, patients, people and planet. As a B Corp, we’re part of a global community that meets high standards of environmental and social impact. Caring for the communities in which we live and work are essential parts of our mission to use our business as a force for good.

We invest resources and skills in the development of our communities so that we can thrive together and create lasting positive impact.

We actively care for tomorrow

We Actively Care for Tomorrow, or we ‘WeACT’, is our people engagement programme designed to drive positive social impact across the communities in which we live and work. Supporting and engaging with the community is an important part of our shared success. With this programme, we promote long-term sustainable growth and a brighter future for all by working within the community to support local charities and environmental protection initiatives.

Every year we provide volunteering opportunities and paid time off work for our employees to engage in activity that improves our local communities.

In 2023 alone, Chiesi UK and Ireland employees devoted almost 6,500 hours to volunteering.
